World summit on the information society

The State of Qatar develops of information society in its frontiers, disseminating the technology of information and communication in the country. The State wants the eradication of information illiteracy to increase the development in all sectors of the society. Qatar emphasizes the abolition of censorship on publications and promotes freedom of expression and opinion. It insists on the importance of collective action to providing the necessary conditions to facilitate the acquisition and the development of technology. The Sate of Qatar also believes that the information society should be based on the respect and reinforcement of cultural and linguistic diversity and on the acceptation of differences.
