The Sultanate of Oman reminds us that, according to the Action
Plan, all countries should strive to ensure development of national
e-strategies by 2005. However, most of the developing countries do not
have means for achieving such a goal. The cooperation of developed
countries, of international organizations and of financial institutions
with developing countries becomes crucial. The Sultanate of Oman,
besides the macro-economic policies adopted for ensuring a high degree
of economic freedom conducive to enterprise and investment, formulated a
national information technology strategy for the coming years.
Oman has an ambitious program in place which will enable the young Omanis
to acquire the basic skills in some information technologies.
Recognizing its need for high specializations in ICT at university and
post graduate levels, Sultanate of Oman created recently two private
technical colleges for ICT courses.
