Nigeria reminds us that the
main goal of the information society is to build a bridge between
developed and developing countries as well as between urban and rural
areas. However the challenges of development are numerous for the South
countries, where schools, electricity, roads, ... are missing elements.
Nigeria appeals for an international support and cooperation, in order
to move forward in social and economic progress. In spite of the
difficulties, Nigeria reveals that efforts have been made to integrate
ICTs into various sectors (agriculture, health, culture, ...) : the
number of computers, of fixed telephone lines and of mobile telephones
have increased.
Nigeria welcomes the global effort to build an information society where
everyone can use and share information and knowledge. It appeals to
world leaders and others stakeholders to create a Universal Access and
to make the governance become a global public facility.
