Nepal reminds that the
ICTs brought remarkable improvements in all fields. Its main concern is
to create an appropriate environment to develop all segments of society.
The government of Nepal has adopted the policy of e-strategy by
developing a framework of e-governance, e-commerce, e-education and
e-medicine. It hopes to provide at least 2 telephone lines in about 4000
villages and to establish 1500 IT access centers by the year 2007.
Nepal also adopted a liberal policy in the sector of ICTs,
creating a healthy competition. It firmly believes that the building of
a truly inclusive information society is possible. But in this sense,
international support and cooperation are essential, especially in areas
such as training, technology transfer, human resource and ICT
infrastructure.
