Israel explains that the
information society has changed significantly the lives of its citizens.
Israel ranks among the economies which have achieved a high level of access
to digital technologies for a majority of their inhabitants. However Israel
is not an exception towards the problem of the digital divide. Numerous
national initiatives have been launched in order to expand the access and
use of ICT’ s : the “Computer for every children” program, the “Government
online” program, the “Internet for Senior citizens” initiative and the
assistance to people with special needs are some examples of the efforts
that Israel is doing.
Internet can be a tool of contamination of xenophobia, racism and religious
intolerance and Israel believes there is a need to seek ways to combat the
phenomena.
