The
Holy See is mostly interested in the human and moral implications of
the information society. All actors should take the appropriate actions and
preventive measures against abusive uses of ICTs, such as pedophilia, child
pornography and racial discrimination. The information society should
include three basic principles : the importance of truth, the dignity of the
human person and the promotion of the common good. To protect private
property, including intellectual property is a fundamental social task to
serve the common good. The Holy See's delegation is particularly interested
in the role of media and ICTs in the preservation and construction of peace.
Media “can serve the culture of dialogue, of participation, of solidarity
and of reconciliation without which peace cannot flourish”.
